MACKEYVILLE — Get out your sewing materials! The Clinton County Fair is joining fairs across the state in a unique apron contest, and area residents are invited to participate!
This year’s Clinton County Fair, which runs August 1-8, 2026, at the Fairgrounds in Mackeyville, will feature the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs (PSACF) special apron contest, showcasing fairs and carnivals!
The apron contest is an annual event at fairs throughout Pennsylvania, and each year features a new theme.
To take part in the Clinton County Fair “Fairs and Carnivals” Apron Contest, participants must design and sew either a half apron or a bib apron, with the primary fabric being themed material showcasing fairs and carnivals.
The contest guidelines further state that exhibitors must be a Pennsylvania resident to participate, only one entry per person is permitted, and the apron must have been made this year.
Entries will be judged on workmanship, worth of article and appropriateness of material and design. Points will be awarded based on overall appearance, creativity, workmanship/suitability and design/color.
There is a modest fee of only 50 cents to enter the Clinton County Apron Contest. The blue ribbon first-place winner will receive a $25 premium; second-place $20; and third-place $15.
The winner of the Clinton County Apron Contest will advance to the state-level competition, held at the 2027 Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg, where first-place prize is $250, second is $150 and third is $100.
