Geisinger Medical Center earns national accolades for quality and safety
Honor includes Leapfrog A Safety grade
MUNCY — Geisinger Medical Center Muncy has again been recognized among the nation’s top-performing hospitals, earning an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. The distinction reflects the hospital’s continued commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.
Geisinger Medical Center Muncy announced earlier this year it also earned the highest score for patient experience from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), joining an elite group of hospitals across the country with 5-Star ratings for the latest measuring period.
“Our teams work every day to ensure our patients receive the safest, most reliable care possible,” said Jason Schaur, M.D., chief medical officer for Geisinger’s North-Central region. “Earning another ‘A’ from Leapfrog reinforces that dedication. When patients choose Geisinger Medical Center Muncy, they can trust they are receiving exceptional care grounded in rigorous safety standards.”
The Leapfrog Group, a national health care nonprofit, assigns grades from “A” to “F” to almost 3,000 general hospitals across the country. The latest grade is based on more than 30 performance measures that track errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“This award reflects the tremendous hard work and heart our teams put into providing the highest-quality care for our patients,” said Danielle Forker, R.N., senior director of nursing at Geisinger Medical Center Muncy. “We’re so proud to see our staff and providers recognized for their dedication to our patients and the community.”
