MILL HALL — If you want to shop local, look no further than the Mackeyville Greenhouse and Produce.

Its Facebook page lists it as a “family-owned rural greenhouse.” However, in addition to plants, flowers and gardening supplies, it sells a plethora of other items.

“We primarily focus on the greenhouse,” said owner Samuel Glick. “The other stuff we started doing to make things more year-round.”

All items are fresh, homemade and homegrown. Look for locally-made baked goods and dairy products. There are local meats and cheeses as well.

“The baked goods are very popular. Everything is made in-house with the exception of Nan’s Donuts and those are very popular, too,” Glick said.

Nan’s Donuts are sold every Saturday, he said.

During the summer months, fresh fruits and vegetables are the order of the day.

Another popular item, Glick said, are fresh-made hoagies.

“They have been selling very well. People really like them,” he said.

In the spring, Mackeyville Greenhouse and Produce also has mulch and stone. It offers delivery of those items, Glick said.

Mackeyville Greenhouse and Produce is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesday, there are extended hours until 6 p.m. It is closed on Sundays. Hours, however, will be changing for spring. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In May, it will be open extended hours until 6 p.m.

“May is a very busy time. People do a lot of planting,” Glick noted.
