LOCK HAVEN — From humble beginnings to where they are now, Muthler Landscaping has kept its core values over the years: serving the community.
Thayne Muthler, CEO of Muthler Landscaping, started the company with his friends in the Spring of 2017 while he was still a student at Jersey Shore High School.
They took on mowing jobs and eventually expanded to include landscaping — transforming boring yards into something vibrant.
Though Muthler had to take time off of the business while he sought a profession in law enforcement, after he graduated and was successful in becoming a Central Pennsylvania Police Officer, Muthler felt the need to revive the landscaping business.
Since reopening in 2024, Muthler has tried to push the boundaries of technology in regards to landscaping.

“(Some) landscape companies aren’t big on websites or online payments, we do all of that,” said Muthler.
They offer fair pricing on everything from landscaping and excavation services to construction and tree services. Muthler is certified through the state of Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to spray pesticides and help a homeowner manage unwanted weeds on their property.
They also offer snow removal services for commercial and residential snow plowing as well as salting and ice management.
Because each lawn is unique, Muther Landscaping offers free inspections when they work on your property.
“Every property we go to we take our sensors out, we take readings of the pH level (and offer) certain services based on their needs. (Services) that will help your lawn grow better — we do that cost-free,” said Muthler.

They also offer a 10% discount to military members and first responders as a way to give back to those who put others first. This offer applies to all services they offer, with no restrictions.
Muthler Landscaping keeps up with state regulations and industry standards, which are constantly fluctuating as the landscaping industry evolves.
“Everything we do is backed by science and years of experience,” Muthler explained.
Muthler himself is available 24/7 for emergency dispatch.
“If a tree falls on your house and it’s 3 a.m., I’ll be out. As long as I’m conscious I’m going to answer the phone. I’m your guy,” said Muthler.

Much like his late grandmother, Lana Muthler, Muthler does everything he can to give back to the community — from volunteering time and equipment to help local businesses, to giving back directly through sponsoring events like Shop with a Cop.
Muthler Landscaping also aims to create local jobs to help with the local economy, and employ workers from the area.
“We try to bring a new level of good communication, technology, marketing and branding to the landscaping scene,” said Muthler.
