Man accused in stabbing is hospitalized
RENOVO — State police at Lamar report Shawn Mills of North Bend, accused of stabbing Bradley K. Shearer, 28, also of North Bend during a fight early Sunday morning, is being detained by state police, reportedly in an area hospital where he is being treated for injuries suffered in the altercation.
Police issued a warrant for Mills’ arrest on Sunday and filed charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against him for allegedly stabbing Shearer 17 times in the leg and arm. Shearer remains a patient at UPMC Williamsport.
The incident occurred between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Green Lantern Bar, 19 Gratzmar Ave., just outside of Renovo.
Police said Mills and Shearer were engaged in a physical altercation that escalated when Mills pulled out a knife and stabbed Shearer. Mills fled the scene, but returned shortly after and fired 2-3 shots from a 9 mm handgun, police said. Mills fled the scene again.
According to the police criminal complaint, several others were involved in the fight in the parking lot prior to Shearer coming out of the bar and trying to break it up.
Mills will be arraigned from the Clinton County Correctional Facility upon release from the hospital.
