LOCK HAVEN — Inside the air-conditioned vendor’s building, Ginny Mainus provided some comfort for those who were weary and tired from walking around the 2022 Sentimental Journey to Cub Haven Fly-In.
Ginny’s Reflexology was a busy place on Friday afternoon as customers lined up for their final chance to see Ginny, who provides amazing foot massages. A 10-minute session is just $10.
She has been coming to the Fly-In for about a decade. She reflected on the week that was.
“Monday was slow but it’s been busy ever since. (Friday) is always busy because people have sore feet and they want to come get their foot massage,” Ginny said.
She has been in business for a long time, so she knows her way around the hands and feet.
“It’s an applied pressure technique to the hands and feet, which actually corresponds to all the organs and glands in your body. You are designed to walk on your feet to keep your body in balance. You have 7,200 nerve endings in each hand and each foot. I stimulate those areas,” Ginny explained.
She said that the Fly-In brings out regular customers.
“For the women, they love to come in and find something that’s relaxing because their husbands are all out doing the aviation things. But I get an equal number of men that come in that say, ‘Oh, my feet hurt. Can I get some reflexology?’ I pretty much get the same clientele year after year. They come running back,” Ginny said.
Ginny travels from Westfield, Pa., to come to the Fly-In. It’s no short trip — about 83 miles. However, she loves the Fly-In, so she packs up and heads to Lock Haven each and every year.
“I have a little camper. It’s a camp-out for me. I went to college for aviation and I have a pilot’s license, so I meet my college friends here. I’ve made new friends as well. That’s what brings me here. It’s really a working vacation,” Ginny said.
Make no mistake about it, Ginny makes the most of the time in Lock Haven.
“I’ll go up (in the air). I have friends who own airplanes. We’ll fly in the evenings and I really try to make an event out of it. This gives me something to do,” Ginny said. “If I go out flying, I’ll have my camping buddy, Mike, cover my booth for me.”
She has owned and operated Ginny’s Reflexology for nearly 20 years.
“That was my second career. It’s something fun and it’s very beneficial. I’m not a doctor, so I can’t prescribe or diagnose, but I can tell you areas of concern in your body when I’m working on your hands and feet,” Ginny said.
If you missed Ginny this year, there’s always 2023. Chances are that it will still be the same price.
“It’s been $10 for 19 years. I keep it the same,” Ginny said with a laugh. “It’s fun and I don’t mind doing it.”
At $10, Ginny’s foot massage is one of the biggest bargains at the Fly-In.
