Santa Jump set for Nov. 12
BEECH CREEK — Santa Claus and his Elves will be skydiving into Beech Creek for the Sixth Annual Beech Creek-Blanchard Santa Jump Jamboree!
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 12, with Santa Claus and two elves parachuting onto the ball field at 1 p.m. (weather permitting).
This year there will be no games, but instead there will be a scavenger hunt for the children. Completed scavenger hunt cards can be dropped into a bucket at the giveaways table where one lucky winner will receive a Walmart gift card.
Six bikes will be given away during the event, so make sure you sign your kids up to win! Adults can register to win turkeys and hams. There will also be a Chinese auction and 50/50 drawings.
Vendors will be set up in the Community Center and Social Hall, where there will be lots of food, drinks and crafts.
Crafts for the kids will be open from 10 a.m to 12:45 p.m., inside the truck bay of the fire station.
The Santa Jump originally started 25 years ago but went on a long hiatus before being revived.
Billie Orndorf, the president, said, “Back then, Dale Powers would play Christmas music while everyone waited for the plane’s arrival. There was homemade hot chocolate available and the kids all got boxes of either chocolates or Little Debbie’s cakes from Santa.”
Since the Santa Jump Jamboree began again in 2016, the donations the Jamboree makes to non-profit organizations have been steadily increasing. Last year they were able to donate a total of $7,000 to both the Friendship Community Center and the Beech Creek-Blanchard Volunteer Fire Company.
