LOCK HAVEN — One school in the Keystone Central School District had a paparazzi-worthy first day back to school for the 2023-24 school year.

Robb Elementary School welcomed its students with energetic music, a limousine and a red carpet to get them excited for their first day.

Students of all ages were encouraged to climb through the limo and strut across the red carpet with families and teachers cheering them on as they made their way inside the building.

The man behind the idea was none other than Robb’s Facilitator, Bradley McCloskey.

“We go through Jostens Renaissance which is a motivational/educational thing to get kids to want to be here. We base everything around three things — kids want to be seen, they want to be heard and they want to be loved. We want to do things like this that will give them attention for being awesome. Attendance is not the greatest since COVID so we’re trying to find ways to get them excited to be here. Our goal for day one was to make them excited for day two,” said McCloskey.

Arrive N Style in Mill Hall donated the limousine for the school to use for the morning, The Roxy Theater allowed the school to use the red velvet rope stanchions and a staff member brought in the red carpet.

“It was a total team effort here — our staff is awesome,” said McCloskey. “There were so many teachers here way before they had to be on the first day of school. It was very cool.”

The school’s principal, Tyler Barth, attributed all of the hard work to McCloskey and the other teachers.

“We’re all super excited for the school year, we want all of our kids to feel like they’re very important people. Although we won’t roll the red carpet out each day, we want them to feel that way when they come into Robb every day. A huge thank you to Mr. McCloskey and our staff for putting it together today. I think it was a great time,” said Barth.
