LOCK HAVEN — After receiving requests from the public for years, Odd Fellas owners Bill and Tara Newman have finally decided to open up for breakfast.

Beginning at 7 a.m. daily, the restaurant will be offering their breakfast menu all day, with pancakes available until 11 a.m.

According to Tara, the decision was borne out of a combination of public request, and just being breakfast lovers themselves.

“People know Odd Fellas’ burgers by now. We want to bring that (same) level of excellence to breakfast as well,” said Tara.

Known for their craft burgers and milkshakes, Odd Fellas’ new breakfast menu has something for everyone — whether you prefer sweet or savory breakfast options.

“We had many requests to open for breakfast and do it kind of like we do our burgers — something crafty. That’s what we tried to put into our menu,” said Bill.

The restaurant uses fresh ingredients and makes their food from scratch. Freshly made daily, the menu features omelettes, breakfast platters, sandwiches, breakfast wraps, pancakes or waffles, french toast and stuffed french toast as well as many sides to choose from.

They also offer all you can eat bottomless pancakes for $9 — you start with three pancakes and a free coffee, and can have unlimited refills on both.

When they can’t make something themselves, they do their best to source locally — such as using bagels from locally owned Bagel Bagel.

“It may be a smaller menu than some of the other restaurants in town, but we talked to people, asked what they wanted and put together stuff that we thought would sell to our customers,” said Bill.

Jordan McCloskey, who has worked at Odd Fellas for almost 10 years, was the brains behind the sausage gravy according to the Newmans.

“I love this restaurant, and I’m glad to see us doing new things. I’m extremely biased (about the sausage gravy), it’s my favorite breakfast food. When we decided we were doing breakfast I knew I had to make sure it was on the menu,” said McCloskey.

Running a restaurant in a small town is no easy task — especially without being part of a chain that would have corporate support, according to Bill.

Tara sang Jordan’s praises, “We’re grateful for Jordan. He’s very dedicated and he’s been ride-or-die all these years. Creativity and excellence in the kitchen is something he’s always brought (to the table.)”

Though they use fresh products, Bill said they made sure to fairly price their meals. Many of the meals on the menu are under $10, including their stuffed french toast, egg sandwiches, their fan-favorite biscuits and sausage gravy and more.

On top of their low prices, they offer a special discount to those who live, work or go to school locally.

Many businesses in the area offer a 10 percent discount to students, but Odd Fellas takes it a step further to encourage more customers through their doors. Just show a business card or ID and receive 10 percent off your meal.

“Just ask for it if you’re a student or you live or work locally,” said Tara. “We’ll be happy to give (the discount) to folks.”
