KCSD looks for 16 kindergarteners to transfer from Robb to L-C
Super: Increased enrollment led to request
LOCK HAVEN — The Keystone Central School District has requested 16 families with an incoming kindergartener at Robb Elementary School to volunteer to send their child to Liberty-Curtin Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year.
The announcement was sent out to Robb Elementary School parents on Thursday afternoon and shared on the district’s social media. It included a letter from Superintendent Dr. Francis Redmon, who said increased enrollment at Robb led to the request.
“Over the summer, we have seen a marked increase in the number of kindergarten students enrolling at Robb Elementary School,” Redmon’s letter reads. “To ensure that the kindergarten class sizes are not too large, we will have to move 16 kindergarten students from Robb Elementary to Liberty-Curtin Elementary.”
Liberty-Curtin is prepared to open its new building, constructed this summer.
Redmon’s letter noted parents could volunteer their student — and any older siblings — to transfer from Robb Elementary to Liberty-Curtin Elementary.
“We will take the first 16 incoming kindergarten students who volunteer,” he wrote. “If there are not enough volunteers, the district team will choose the remainder of the group based on enrollment date, current siblings at Robb and other factors for maintaining equity between classes and schools.”
Redmon’s letter noted the district will offer transportation from Robb Elementary to Liberty-Curtin, located just across the Clinton/Centre County line in Blanchard. Parent transportation is also an option.
“Since students will be shuttled from Robb in the morning and back in the afternoon, before and after-school care at Robb will be available,” he said.
Redmon’s letter requested interested parents fill out a response form by Aug. 12.
“We recognize the decisions about school placement are important, and we are here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions about Liberty-Curtin Elementary or the process, please do not hesitate to reach out,” the letter concludes.
