LOCK HAVEN — Before too long the sound of speed boat engines will be whizzing up and down the West Branch of the Susquehanna River for the 55th Annual Labor Day Regatta.
The event, organized by the Lock Haven Regatta Foundation, will run from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 and feature classic boat races, rides, food, games, live music and fireworks.
Advanced ride tickets are now available for the regatta at the following locations:
— The Second Cup, 204 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven

— The Bus Stops Here, 25 E. Main St., Lock Haven
— It Is What It Is, 109 E. Main St., Lock Haven.
Tickets are $10 for a sheet of 12, a savings of $2 off the price during the regatta.
This year’s boat races are sponsored by Budweiser and will feature dozens of classes of boats, according to information provided by the foundation.
“Enjoy the North American Championship of A Class Runabouts and two new Pro Classes — 700cc and 1,100cc, hitting 100 miles an hour, and the Top Dog Championships,” the foundation shared.
The regatta is set to kick off on Friday, Aug. 29, with the midway, arts and crafts vendors and rides open from 6 to 10 p.m. along Water Street between Jay and Henderson streets.
Live music sponsored by the regatta foundation will take place from 7 to 10 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 30, will bring with it opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. and boat races until dusk.
The midway will open at 10 a.m., too, and remain open until 10 p.m.
Live music will keep things grooving from noon to 10 p.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 31, boat races will once again run from 10 a.m. to dusk and Bear Country Radio’s Annual Bear Bash will take place from noon to 10 p.m.
The annual Dash for Cash is planned for noon on Sunday to offer some extra bit of excitement for boat watchers.
The Bear Bash will feature live music from Kopper and Kash, Ridin’ Shotgun, One Acre West, Victor and the Icons, A Rock Show and Biscuit Jam.
The midway along with arts and crafts vendors and rides will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with fireworks planned for 10:30 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 1, will be the final day for the regatta, with boat races from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the midway open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
