LOCK HAVEN — This Thursday, Sept. 11, is our National Day of Remembrance. It’s a great day to thank a firefighter or other first-responder, as well as veterans and current members of the military.
One way to do that is to sponsor an Angel Light for 9/11, to be lit in Triangle Park on Thursday evening.
You may sponsor and personalize a luminary for anyone who is a light in your life. Most sponsors write a name on their Angel Light, while others remember the heroes, or the victims, of the attacks. “Never forget” is a popular statement.
There is no limit on how many Angel Lights you may sponsor. They are $5 each.
To get yours, visit the store The Bus Stops Here at 25 E. Main St., Lock Haven, or stop by Triangle Park this Thursday. The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven organizes Angel Lights and will be there as early as 2 p.m. to sell luminaries.
It’s a chance to light your personal candle against the darkness.
Funds raised for Angel Lights go back into the community.
The park will also serve as the headquarters for the Moving Tribute of flags by V.A. volunteer walkers and runners.
Everyone’s invited to stop by or drive past the park Thursday evening to see the luminaries and flags. You will find it a safe space to recall the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
