Area churches announce Christmas services

LOCK HAVEN — A variety of churches in our area will be holding special services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day along with concerts and plays.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES

— Lamar United Methodist will be having a Christmas Eve service beginning at 2:30 p.m.

— Caldwell People’s United Methodist Church will celebrate Christmas Eve at 3 p.m. with a service and Fellowship meal.

— St. Joseph Church, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo, will hold Christmas Eve services at 4 p.m.

— Mill Hall United Methodist will be having their Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m.

— Cedar Heights Church is having a candlelight Christmas Eve Service at 4 p.m.

— A Christmas Eve service will be held at 4 p.m. at the Rote United Methodist Church. All are invited to this candlelight service.

— Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, and Pastor Justin Frear invites everyone to the Christmas Eve candlelight service at the family-friendly time of 4 p.m. Child care is available if needed. — Milesburg United Methodist Church, 301 Turnpike St., is having a Candlelight Christmas Eve service beginning at 5 p.m. Call 814-359-8119 for info.

— St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Main Street, Lock Haven will hold services at 5 p.m.

— Farrandsville United Methodist Church will hold Christmas Eve Services at 5:30 p.m.

— Flemington United Methodist will have a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m.

— Big Woods Bible Church’s Christmas Eve Service begins at 6 p.m.

— Summit Hill Wesleyan Church will host a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 6 p.m. Let your light shine for Jesus, the Reason for the Season! Call Pastor Stan at 814-937-1092 for info or directions.

— Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, 217 Main St., Beech Creek, will hold candlelight services at 6 p.m. The evening will feature special music by its choir being directed by Missie Lomison.

— The Walnut Street Church of Christ will be having a Christmas Eve Service from 6-7 p.m. All are invited and welcomed to attend. Call 570-660-5575 for information.

— Christmas Eve service at United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lock Haven beginning at 6 p.m.

— Christmas Eve Services will be held at 6 p.m. at Howard United Methodist Church, 144 W. Main St. All are invited to share this special evening.

— Phelps Chapel, 68 Phelps Chapel Road, Jersey Shore, will hold a service at 6 p.m.

— St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington will be having a Quiet Communion Candlelight service on Christmas Eve from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. You are welcome to come and stay for the entire service or to stay as long as you wish. Please plan to attend this very beautiful service.

— Charlton Chapel (Lighthouse Ministry) will hold Children’s services at 7 p.m. This year the “littles” will read the Scripture, telling the Christmas Story and lead carols that are familiar. Candlelight service will be at 11 p.m. Communion will be served and bells are scheduled to sound at midnight.

— St. Agnes Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven, will hold Christmas Eve services at 7 p.m.

— Woolrich Community United Methodist Church will celebrate Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. with a service of scripture, music, Communion and candle light.

— A Christmas Eve Worship Service at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown will be held at 7 p.m.

— Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jacksonville will have a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m.

— Great Island Presbyterian Church will be holding their annual Christmas Eve Candle Light Service. The musical Prelude starts at 7:10 p.m. with the service beginning at 7:30 p.m. and will last approximately one hour. The service will include music from our Bell Choir, Vocal Choir, Praise Band, Organist and also guest trumpet and flute players.

— Christmas Eve Service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mill Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m.

— Christmas Eve Service at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Loganton beginning at 7:30 p.m

— Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church in Mill Hall is having a Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Lots of free parking and a handicap ramp is available to the rear of the church.

— First United Methodist Church, 236 S. Main St., Jersey Shore, will hold a service at 7:30 p.m.

— Swissdale United Methodist Church will hold Christmas Eve Services at 7:30 p.m.

— Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church Christmas Eve services at 8 p.m. and again at 11 p.m.

— Immaculate Conception Church, 310 W. Water St., Lock Haven, will hold Christmas Eve services at 10 p.m.

CHRISTMAS DAY

— Christmas Day Service at United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lock Haven beginning at 9:30 a.m.

— St. Agnes Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven, will hold Christmas Day services at 9:30 a.m. The 7 and 10 p.m. services will include special music and carols by the choir 30 minutes before mass.

— St. Joseph Church, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo, will hold Christmas services at 12 p.m.

PLAYS/PROGRAMS

— The Nittany/Sugar Valley, Clintondale and Mackeyville Charge will be performing a wonderful Christmas play called, “The Christmas Dilemma. David Benner plays the part of the innkeeper, with Dawn Herlocher playing the part of his wife. The play follows when an infant Savior arrives, five ordinary people find their lives upended and forever changed. In this ensemble, the stories of Mary, Joseph, a Wise Man, a Shepherd and the Innkeeper all point to the miraculous birth of Jesus and the impact His life will have on them and the world. The show will be presented at the Clintondale United Methodist Church, 103 Fishing Creek Road, Mill Hall, on Saturday, Dec. 20, with shows at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. There is no charge and the event is open to the public. Please plan to come and be inspired to share the joy of the season!

— Worship in the Woods, every Friday and Saturday night in December, running every 30 minutes from 6-9 p.m., in the parking lot of Big Woods Bible Church, 241 S. Hanna St., Lock Haven, is a display of lights celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

— Marsh Creek BIC Church will have their Children’s Christmas Program on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 9 a.m. All are welcome!

CONCERTS

— On Dec. 21, a seasonal musical concert by Cardinal Brass Quartet will be at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown at 10:30 a.m.
