‘The reason for the season’: Wingate Faith Church hosts live nativity, Christmas tree lighting

BELLEFONTE — Wingate Faith Church will celebrate “the reason for the season” with a live nativity and its annual community Christmas tree lighting in Bellefonte this month.
The church will present “A Live Nativity: The Reason for the Season” Friday through Sunday, Dec. 19-21, at Eagle Towing & Recovery, 1049 S. Eagle Valley Road, Bellefonte. Show times are 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each night.
The 20-minute outdoor moving presentation of the Nativity story includes narration, music, live animals and costumed characters. Bleacher seating will be available. The program is free and open to the community. Guests are encouraged to dress warmly and bring a blanket.
Wingate Faith Church will also hold its annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, on the front lawn of Wingate Faith, 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, behind the Wingate Sheetz. Snacks will be available along with a chance to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and the tree will be lit at 5 p.m.
The event will feature Christmas carols, hot chocolate, cookies and popcorn. Everyone is welcome, and attendees are encouraged to dress warmly and bring a camera.
