LOCK HAVEN — Bald Eagle and Nittany Valley Kiwanis Club recently welcomed two new members
Karen Powell and Bobie-Jo Brungard received a warm welcome from current members at the club’s February meeting, held at the John Yost Community Center in Lock Haven.
The meeting included welcoming the members along with enjoying pizza, laughter and friendship while the club completed its annual Kiwanis Youth Protection Training.
The training was presented in a similar fashion as Family Feud, but with questions pertaining to Kiwanis Youth Protection. The club thanked member Matt Wise for putting the presentation together and serving as host.
“It was so much fun!” said Dana Suter.

During this monthly membership meeting, members also assembled 35 Jared Boxes to be delivered to Geisinger Hospital in Jersey Shore. Jared Boxes are a great way for you or your organization to help spread joy to young patients as they navigate through their hospital experience.
The BENV Club has really been keeping busy! They will be hosting their annual Kash Bash on Saturday, March 14, at the Sons & Daughters of Italy, Lock Haven. This sold out event serves as one of their biggest fundraisers for the year.
On Feb. 17, members Penny Meyers (secretary), Dana Suter, Linda Walker (president) and Susie Peters spent their day volunteering at the Infant Development Program in Lock Haven. They crafted a variety of Valentine-themed crafts with the kids, read some books and even sang a few songs. The next function will be held on March 11 for “READING ACROSS PA.”
“We love to see the smiles on kids’ faces as they learn hand and eye coordination, as well as learning direction. This is what Kiwanis is about, showing that we care.” said Meyers.
This very active, community minded club will also soon be celebrating the PA Kiwanis District “READING ACROSS PA” with the Clinton County Housing Authority. This event will be held at the John Yost Community Center on Wednesday, March 18, from 6-7 p.m. This is an event for reading, crafts and a good time learning about the ocean! Pizza, snacks and drinks are included.
