Megan’s law violation
BEECH CREEK — Joshua Bassett, 34, of Beech Creek, was charged with five counts of failing to update sexual offender registration information, state police at Lamar said.
According to police, Bassett failed to comply with Megan’s Law Requirements between May 10 and July 21 along Stonehouse Lane, Beech Creek Township.
Charges were filed through District Judge Heidi Wright’s office.
Arson investigation
BEECH CREEK — State police at Lamar are investigating a possible arson incident at a resident along Merryvale Lane in Beech Creek Borough on July 4.
On July 4 at about 1:20 a.m., the Beech Creek Fire Company responded to a structure fire at 18 Merryvale Lane, police said.
An investigation by a fire marshal determined the fire started in the area of a book shelf, located in the apartment complex’s common laundry room and kitchen area, police said.
It was also determined the only possible cause was incendiary in nature and considered arson, police said.
Total damage to the property was $20,000 to the common area and its contents, police said.

Runaway juvenile
RENOVO — State police at Lamar were called to Renovo Road in Allison Township on April 15 for reports of a runaway 16-year-old Mill Hall girl.
The juvenile was later located safe, police said.
Motorcycle crash
LAMAR — A 25-year-old man sustained serious bodily injuries in a motorcycle crash along Long Run Road, Lamar Township, on July 9, state police at Lamar said.
At 8:36 p.m., Jonas M. Tomalonis, 25, of Mill Hall, was traveling along the roadway when he failed to negotiate a left-hand turn and lost control of his 2006 Yamaha XV1700 Road Star, traveling off the roadway and rode into a grassy ditch for about 18 feet, police said.
The motorcycle then went on its side and continued to slide as Tomalonis was thrown from it, police said. The motorcycle traveled an additional 24 feet before coming to rest facing southwest, police said.
Tomalonis was wearing a full face helmet but sustained serious injuries and was transported to UPMC Lock Haven by Goodwill Hose EMS, police said. He was later transferred to UPMC Williamsport for further treatment.
Police were assisted on the scene by Lamar Fire Department and Goodwill Hose EMS.
Simple trespass
RENOVO — A 70-year-old Westport man was arrested for trespassing on a property along Plank Road, Noyes Township, state police at Lamar said.
Police were notified of the incident on July 18 at 1:30 p.m. about the suspect trespassing on the location, police said.
Charges were filed through District Judge Frank Mills’ office.
Harassment
LOCK HAVEN — Two people were cited for harassment following a dispute along Crist Lane, Woodward Township, on July 22, state police at Lamar said.
Police were called to the location at about 1:57 a.m. following a 911 hang-up where officers later learned a domestic dispute occurred during a child exchange between a 43-year-old man and 36-year-old woman.
Both arrestees allegedly hit each other with an open hand, police said.
Retail theft
RENOVO — Renovo Police have charged 51-year-old Heather Obrien, of Renovo, with retail theft following an incident at the Dollar General in Renovo during the evening of July 10, at approximately 8:50 p.m.
Police said Obrien removed merchandise valued at $16 from the store without paying for it and concealing it in her pocket.
Obrien has been sent a summons through District Court 25-3-03, police said.
Theft of lost property
LOCK HAVEN — Woodward Township Police have charged Jamie Harpel, 50, of Lock Haven, with theft of lost property and receiving stolen property after an incident occurring on May 14 at the Nittany MinitMart located at 18 Woodward Avenue.
Police said while at the store, Harpel picked up a wallet that was lying on the floor, placed it in his pocket and left the store.
Harpel didn’t notify store personnel or try to contact the owner of the wallet which contained cash and identification paperwork, police said.
Charges were filed June 30 at District Judge Kibler’s office and a summons was issued for Harpel for further court proceedings, police said.
