Drug possession
LOCK HAVEN — A 33-year-old Lock Haven man could face drug possession charges following a traffic stop along East Walnut Street, Lock Haven, on Nov. 26, state police at Lamar said.
At 4:08 p.m., a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu was stopped for traffic violations when, through an investigation, it was discovered the man, a passenger, was in possession of a controlled substance, police said.
An investigation is ongoing.
Trailer detaches from
truck in crash
LOGANTON — No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash along Interstate 80 West in Greene Township, on Dec. 19, state police at Lamar said.
At 5:21 a.m., Tyler J. Burkey, 27, of Ridgway, Pa., was traveling near mile marker 187 when his 2003 International Harvester 9900IX exited the roadway by the left shoulder and continued down a small embankment, striking a tree, causing disabling damage, police said.
During the crash, the trailer detached itself from the truck, police said.
Injuries reported in I-80 crash
LAMAR — One driver was transported to UPMC Williamsport for suspected injuries following a two vehicle crash along Interstate 80 near mile marker 182 on Dec. 18, state police at Lamar said.
At 8:15 a.m., Sean D. Fields, 53, of Oak Grove, Mo., was traveling in his 2024 Freightliner Cascadia while a 2025 Peterbilt, driven by Alphonso A. Chapman, 31, of Virginia Beach, Va., was traveling in the right lane, police said.
As Fields approached Chapman his vehicle drifted into the right lane, striking the rear of the other vehicle, police said.
Both vehicles continued east before leaving the roadway from the south berm, continuing into a ditch, police said.
The cab of Fields’ vehicle detached from the frame, rolling onto the driver side while Chapman’s vehicle went up an embankment, police said.
Chapman was transported by Goodwill Hose EMS for injuries of an unknown severity, police said.
Police were assisted on scene by Sugar Valley Fire Department and Bressler’s Towing.
Vehicle hydroplanes,
leads to crash
LAMAR — Minor injuries were reported in a two vehicle accident along Interstate 80 near mile marker 175, Porter Township, on Dec. 18, state police at Lamar said.
At 7:37 p.m., a 2023 Toyota GR 86, driven by Vittorio Mena, 65, of Ridgefield, N.J., was attempting to pass a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia 126, driven by Presgeuss A. Porter, 23, of New Orleans, La., when his vehicle hydroplaned, causing him to lose control, police said.
Mena’s vehicle entered the right lane directly in front of Porter, who was unable to avoid striking the Toyota with its driver side bumper, police said.
Porter’s vehicle struck a guide rail in an attempt to avoid striking Mena’s vehicle, but was able to pull off the roadway safely, police said.
Mena’s vehicle suffered disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Tressler’s Towing, police said.
Mena’s passenger, Victoria C. Raposo, 26, of North Bergen, N.J., was transported to UPMC Lock Haven by Goodwill Hose EMS for her injuries, police said.
Mena was cited in relation to driving at safe speeds, police said.
Cellphone stolen
LOCK HAVEN — State police at Lamar are investigating the theft of a phone that occurred on Dec. 8.
According to police, a 26-year-old Renovo woman reported her iPhone 11RS, valued at $900, was taken from her by someone she knew along Mount Riansares Road, Lamar Township.
The phone was either kept or destroyed, police said.
Retail theft
MILL HALL — An 80-year-old Howard woman was cited for retail theft after trying to avoid paying for multiple items at Walmart in Mill Hall on Dec. 3, state police at Lamar said.
According to police, Patty Bowes allegedly attempted to avoid paying for a Lego Disney classic set, valued at $19.96; pre-cut poly cotton fabric, valued at $6.33; a Pittsburgh Steelers ornament, valued at $6.98; Coats and Clark dual duty thread, valued at $2.47; Evri metal sheet grippers, valued at $4.84; anda No Boundaries bucket hat, valued at $14.87, police said.
Charges were filed through District Judge Heidi Wright’s office, police said.
