Fire crews rescue trapped occupant in fire over weekend
LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven Fire Department along with Lock Haven EMS and Goodwill Hose EMS were able to secure a trapped individual during a fire on the second floor of an apartment at 309 E. Main St. over the weekend.
According to information released by LHFD, the call went out at about 5 p.m. where, after arriving at the building located next to Steve Shannon Tire at the intersection of Jay and Main streets, emergency responders found smoke showing from a second floor window.
“Bystanders on scene reported that a disabled person was trapped on the second floor and was unable to exit. Crews went about simultaneously suppressing the fire and rescuing the trapped occupant,” the information, initially shared on the fire department’s social media, said.
The trapped occupant was found in an uninvolved apartment and was uninjured.
Those who entered the structure determined it was in the best interest of the occupant to be sheltered in place until the fire was controlled and smoke removed.
“Once this was done, the occupant was brought outside to be evaluated by EMS but denied wanting any further care or treatment,” the release said.
According to LHFD, crews were on scene for about and hour and a half before the incident was cleared.
