ASHTON PETERS/FOR THE EXPRESS The Lock Haven Fire Department was called to North Grove Street on Monday afternoon for reports of a possible structure fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be cooking.

LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven Fire Department and Lock Haven EMS were called to 210 N. Grove St., for reports of a possible structure fire.

According to information provided by Fire Chief Tyler Wooding, the call went out at 12:30 p.m. Monday. When firefighters arrived there were no signs of fire or smoke showing from the exterior of the building.

“Upon investigation, fire was found in the kitchen of a second-floor apartment,” Wooding reported.

Crews were deployed and the fire suppressed while other crews assisted utility control, fire overhaul and salvage operations.

Wooding said the cause of the fire was related to cooking. No injuries were reported but occupants in the first floor apartment were displaced, he said.

Fire crews were on the scene for about an hour and 10 minutes before returning to their stations.

Wooding said property loss was valued at about $20,000.
