Man ID’d in fatal crash along Route 44 near Antes Fort

ANTES FORT — The identity of the driver killed in a Thursday evening crash near Route 44 and Morgan Valley Road in Nippenose Township has been released by Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling Jr. 19-year-old Lucas Smithgall, of Pearson Road, Jersey Shore, was killed when he lost control of his vehicle as he traveled south on Route 44, and crossed into the path of a truck traveling in the northbound lane, the press release said. Teen killed in crash along Route 44; driver, passengers in other vehicle transported for injuries

ANTES FORT — While authorities work to notify the next of kin of the 19-year-old Jersey Shore man who was killed in Thursday night’s crash involving a BMW and a pickup truck on Route 44 in Nippenose Township, three members of a Clinton County family are recovering from the injuries they suffered in the accident, according to Lycoming Regional police. The teen, the sole occupant in a 2014 BMW 428 Coupe, was southbound on Route 44 when his car and a pickup truck driven by Charles Cowher, 86, of Rauchtown Road, Jersey Shore, collided near Morgan Valley Road about 6 p.m., police said. ...
