‘True North’ VBS

LOGANTON — “True North” Vacation Bible School will be held at Booneville Campground, Campground Road, Loganton, from Sunday, June 8, through Thursday, June 12. The times for this five-day event are 6-8:30 p.m. on June 8 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. for the remaining four days. All ages from preschool through youth are welcome to attend, and pre-registration is not necessary.

The Alaskan wilderness serves as the setting for this “True North” adventure. Those in attendance will be treated to five evenings of music, skits, Bible stories, science experiments, crafts, games and snacks as they learn about trusting Jesus in our wild world today.

A closing program for family and friends will be held at the campground on Thursday, June 12 at 8 p.m. For additional information, contact Grace at 570-725-3926.

St. Luke’s

rededication ceremony

FLEMINGTON — St. Luke’s United Church of Christ at 1175 W. 4th St., Flemington, will hold a rededication of their newly remodeled church on June 22, during their 10:45 a.m. worship service.

This rededication service will be held exactly 53 years after the former church was damaged during Hurricane Agnes on June 22, 1973. The former church was located in downtown Lock Haven at the current Triangle Park.

Refreshments will be served after the service.

Youth Yard Sale

LOCK HAVEN — First Church of Christ, 330 N. Vesper St., Lock Haven, will hold a yard sale today beginning at 8 a.m. Food will also be for sale, with proceeds benefiting the church’s youth group.

Outdoor Concerts

SNYDERTOWN — St. Mark Lutheran Church’s Summer Outdoor Concert series returns and begins Friday, June 13. The monthly series features music from local and regional musicians playing under the pavilion at St. Mark, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard.

On Friday, June 13, singer/songwriter Mike Weyrauch performs. Weyrauch plays popular music as well as praise music and has performed in popular area venues such as 814 Cider Works and Shy Bear Brewery.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with food and the fire pit started to roast hot dogs, smores and more. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. You are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket, food to share if you like and are able, and just enjoy some music and time with the community.

The other summer concerts this year are Woody Wolf, Jr. on July 18 and the Sugar Valley Band on Aug. 8.

Bible Study

LOCK HAVEN — God’s Eternal Life Church at 30 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven, is holding weekly Bible studies each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The topic will be Thru the Bible Word for Word. HUNTER RUN — Bargains and Blessings Community Closet will be open on Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., for a mobile sale in the parking lot of Advanced Family Chiropractic, 3076 Eagle Valley Road, Mill Hall. Shoppers can buy clothing of all sizes, accessories and shoes for just $5 a bag. Bargains and Blessings Community Closet is an outreach of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 551 Hunter Run Road, Howard, and serves Blanchard, Beech Creek, Howard and surrounding areas. Summer Concert Series

LAMAR — Lamar Lighthouse Camp will be hosting their Summer Concert series each Sunday evening at 6 p.m. Each of the concerts is free and open to the public. A love offering is taken each week to further the ministry of both the groups performing and Lamar Lighthouse Camp. Kicking off the summer concert series on June 8 will be GloryWay. On June 15 the Itzels will be performing and on June 22 the Needhams. The Cragun Family will be in concert on June 29.

Vacation Bible School

BELLEFONTE — Howdy, partners! It’s that time of year again… time for Vacation Bible School at Zion Community Church, 3261 Zion Road, Bellefonte.

This year kids will travel to Wonder Junction! There is no greater joy than to praise the name of the Lord all day long… let’s learn more about who Jesus is and what He has done!

Helping Hands

McELHATTAN — The Pathway to Christ Church is excited and proud to announce the onset of another great project as they take on assisting the Evangelical Lutheran Church with their “Helping Hands” mission.

Congregation members will be collecting items such as toilet paper, paper towels, toothpaste, cleaning products, laundry detergent, dental care, trash bags, hair care items, body and hand soap, dish detergent and more.

The collections will end in June and will be delivered to the Evangelical Lutheran Church. If someone is unable to go out to shop for items to donate, the church will gladly accept monetary donations to do the shopping for you.

Yard and bake sale

BEECH CREEK — Laurel Run United Methodist Church, 2899 Laurel Run Road, Beech Creek, will hold a yard and bake sale on Saturday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Movie Night

SNYDERTOWN – St. Mark Lutheran, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard, hosts its spring family movie night on Monday, June 9, starting at 6 p.m. The church will be showing the animated film The Wild Robot. Come for a fun, free evening with friends, both old and new, to enjoy fresh popcorn, snacks and a movie. Feel free to bring blankets to sit on.

The Wild Robot is based on the book by Peter Brown. It follows Roz, a service robot shipwrecked on an uninhabited island who must adapt to her surroundings, build relationships with the local wildlife and become the adoptive mother of an orphaned goose, Brightbill. It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Grief Support

LOCK HAVEN — Community Grief Support is a new opportunity for men and women to gather and seek help together. The next meeting will be on June 10. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the lounge of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

The support group is free, confidential and open to anyone. There is no work book to follow and no end date. It is designed to become an established, long-term program.

Sharon Gensib and Pamela Brauchli are the facilitators. They will open each session but the discussion will go where the group takes it.

Meet and Greet

LOCK HAVEN — Walnut Street Church of Christ, 714 W. Walnut St., Lock Haven, is having a “Meet and Greet” on June 14 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome. Come see the church building, have some refreshments and meet the minister.

VBS at Cedar Heights

MILL HALL — The Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church invites local kids to join them to learn about how Jesus deals with our messes, sins, mistakes and weaknesses.

The Vacation Bible School program will run from June 16 through June 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly at the church, 37 Cedar Heights, Mill Hall, on Route 64.

Vacation Bible School is for children from 3 years through fifth grade. Each night children will enjoy Bible stories, crafts, games, snacks and songs. Pre-registration is available.
