Do you hear what I hear?
The month of December has arrived and with it has come the Christmas Season. Everywhere you go there will be reminders of this season. One of the most striking changes of this time of year takes place on nearly every radio station and most playlists around the country. The tunes we hear daily become a mix rarely found outside of December.
First you may hear a choir singing the chorus to your grandmother’s favorite hymn and then suddenly it is a jingle about reindeer and sleighs that your four-year-old absolutely loves to sing along with.
We will hear many different songs between now and Christmas Day. We are uniquely gifted by God to focus on Him throughout our lives but right now in this season of the year we are given a wonderful opportunity.
As Children of the Almighty God, we have the chance to make sure that every jingle of a bell and every Christmas card we write points everyone in our lives to the One True God, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
When we make this our goal and our mindset everything becomes an opportunity for glorious evangelism. Scripture guides us in Philippians 4:8, “8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is [a]lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, [b] dwell on these things.”
Let us obey Scripture today and focus all of our attention today on these lovely things that God has placed all around us. How can we not be forces for the Kingdom of God when we become the kind of people who turn everything back to the goodness and glory of God? What would happen in each of our lives if every song, every light, every card and every conversation turned back to Jesus Christ and His Glorious and perfect Love?
Here we are now in our city and our country Children of the Light walking through Christmas lights.
May the God of all Peace and Love show each of us His Divine and Glorious will today, tomorrow and evermore!
