Fire forces hospital evacuation

LOCK HAVEN - UPMC Lock Haven Hospital on Cree Drive was evacuated Thursday night, with all the patients taken to a safe area after fire broke out in the boiler room about 9 p.m. A hospital spokesman said maintenance crews were working at the boiler room earlier today sealing an old passageway, but the chemical sealant being used apparently had some sort of reaction and started a fire. Clinton remains steady; Centre up 12 COVID-19 cases

Clinton County county didn't add new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Since the outbreak first began there have been 160 total cases of COVID-19 in the county. Of those 143 are confirmed and 17 are probable. So far 3,681 people have tested negative to the virus. Centre County saw an increase of 12 cases with 638 confirmed and 48 probable, the department said. LOCK HAVEN - Lock Haven City Manager Gregory Wilson issued the following statement regarding the city's COVID-19 infection rate and the closure of city owned property: "On July 20, 2020, City Council enacted Resolution 1586 amending Resolution 1368 enacted March 18, 2020 proclaiming a State of Emergency in the City of Lock Haven. Clinton up 3; Centre adds 37 COVID-19 cases

Clinton County county three new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Since the outbreak first began there have been 150 total cases of COVID-19 in the county. Of those 134 are confirmed and 16 are probable. So far 3,584 people have tested negative to the virus. Centre DA: County sees spike in overdoses

BELLEFONTE - Since August, Centre County police agencies have responded to at least 11 overdose calls. Responding agencies included Pennsylvania State Police, Bellefonte Police, Patton Township Police, Ferguson Township Police and State College Police. Of those 11 overdose calls, three have resulted in death since Aug. 22. "We are seeing a very concerning trend in regards to overdoses and deaths this past four weeks," said Centre County District Attorney Bernie Cantorna.
