JEAN DOTTERER
Jean G. Dotterer, 96, of Mill Hall, Pa., passed away peacefully at her home on Sept. 10, 2025.
She was born on May 10, 1929, in Bellefonte, Pa., the daughter of Arthur and Mabel (Corman) Garbrick.
Jean grew up in Centre County and spent her youth on the family farm in Zion, Pa. She graduated from Walker Township High School in 1947 and went on to earn her beautician’s certificate.
After her marriage in 1949, she worked at Sylvana. While raising six children, Jean continued her education and graduated from Williamsport Area Community College as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Over the years, Jean not only managed the bookkeeping for Dotterer Equipment and Paul Dotterer and Sons, Inc., but also kept up with the milking, daily housework, gardening and volunteering through Meals on Wheels. She was a strong, no-nonsense woman who approached every task with purpose and practicality. Her work ethic and unwavering spirit were evident in all she did, and those who knew her admired her ability to balance family, farm and business with determination and grace.
Jean is survived by her husband of 75 years, Paul A. Dotterer, and their six children, Kathy Ebeling, Larry (Nancy) Dotterer and John (Susan) Dotterer, all of Mill Hall, David Dotterer, of New York City, James Dotterer, of Robbinsville, N.C., and Patricia (John) Rendleman, of Tampa, Fla.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Amanda (Glenn) Condo, Candice (Dan) White, Lori (Logan) Butler, Doug (Cortney) Dotterer and Brian Ebeling, all of Mill Hall; Jennifer (Rob) Dunlap, of Columbus, Mont., Katherine Dotterer, of Gettysburg, Pa., and Carl Ebeling, of Front Royal, Va., as well as nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her only sibling, her brother, Budd Garbrick.
A memorial service for Jean G. Dotterer will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., at Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ, 6031 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall, with Pastor Cindy Killinger officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jean’s name may be made to Meals on Wheels through Gedon Funeral Homes.
