Caryl Ambrose Young, 89, of Lock Haven, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2025.
She was born in Lock Haven on April 18, 1936, the daughter of the late Charles P. and Hazel Seybold Ambrose.
Caryl was a 1954 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School of Lock Haven before obtaining a degree in teaching from the Lock Haven State Teacher’s College.
She was married to John D. Young, Sr. on Oct. 29, 1955.
Caryl worked as a reading teacher at the 7th and 8th grade level at both Lock Haven Junior High School and Bald Eagle Nittany High School until her retirement after 27 years of service. Teaching was a passion of Caryl’s, which showed in her devotion to each and every student she had the honor to educate.
In addition to her teaching career, Caryl had an incredible knowledge of finances and was licensed in Pennsylvania and California as a Financial Advisor and Tax Consultant. She used her financial wizardry to assist many of her family, friends and coworkers with their personal taxes and investment ventures.
In addition to her busy professional life, Caryl found the time to travel the world and was blessed to have visited many countries across six continents.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, attending Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lock Haven.
She is survived by her sister, Christine (Robert) Linn, of Danville; two grandchildren, Tyler Young and Raiah Young; and a daughter-in-law, Stacy R. Weitsman Young, of California.
Caryl was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Young, Sr.; her son, John D. Young, Jr.; and her brother, Charles Ambrose, II.
