Leah B. Walizer passed away on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, Pa.
Born on Sept. 3, 1933, in Nittany, Pa., to the late Richard and Alice (Dorvit) Lucas, she married the love of her life, John Walizer, on Oct. 2, 1950. They spent 69 years together until John’s passing in 2019.
Leah was a homemaker for her husband and her two sons until they were a little older. She then worked in retail starting at Town and Country and then Penn Traffic in State College. When they lived in West Virgina, she worked for Montgomery Ward in Parkersburg, W.Va.
Leah was always active as a long-time member of the Pleasant Gap Women’s Club, the Eastern Star and the women’s group at the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church. She started the Red Hats when they moved to Timber Villa in Elizabethtown.
Leah loved to entertain family and friends with parties and celebrations and was an excellent hostess. She also hosted many Christmas parties at their home in Pleasant Gap for her brothers and sisters, and their families, that could be 70 or more people.
Leah’s greatest loves were her two sons; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Leah was preceded in death by her husband, John Walizer; along with four brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are two sons, John T. Walizer, Jr. and wife, Karen, of State College, and Curtis J. Walizer and wife, Rebecca, of Hershey; a sister, Eva Stitzer, of Bellefonte; and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Heverly, also of Bellefonte.
There will be a Memorial Service held later at the convenience of the family.
