Gennaro Barzona, 85, of Mill Hall, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Haven Place, Lock Haven, surrounded by his wife and family.
Born Nov. 8, 1940, in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Louis and Genevive (Clemente) Barzona.
After graduating from Lock Haven High School in 1959, he joined the United States Army National Guard.
In 1960, he married his best friend, the former Beverly K. Dale, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Jerry was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an insurance investigator. After retiring, he assisted his son, Buddy, at his business, Discount Pool and Spa World.
Jerry was very active in the local community where he spent his entire life. He served on the Avis Zoning Board as well as the Flood Protection Authority where he played an integral role in the Lock Haven Dike/Levee project. Jerry also served on the Recreation Committee, being involved in the construction of both Belles Springs Golf Course and Riverview Park.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, attending St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Jerry was a past member of the Sons of Italy and Elks.
He loved sports — whether it was wrestling at Lock Haven High School, bowling, golfing or playing softball. Jerry also impacted the lives of many youngsters through his dedication to coaching Little League for many years.
Jerry was an avid fisherman and hunter. His favorite place to be at was his “Camp Hate to Leave It” that he shared with his son, grandson and son-in-law.
In addition to his wife, Beverly Barzona, of Mill Hall, he is survived by his children, Tina (Keith) Killinger. of Mill Hall, and Louis “Buddy” (Kristen) Barzona, of Lock Haven; sisters, Dolores (Arthur) Crissman and Frankie (Ken) Dershem; and his grandchildren, Taylor (Tyler) White, Alexya (Demetri) Probst and Gennaro “Geo” (Shawna) Barzona.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Considine and Patricia Chapelle.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven, with his cousin, Deacon Chip Young, officiating.
Private interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall, Pa.
Friends and family will be received on Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.
Memorial contributions in Jerry’s name may be made to Clinton County SPCA through the funeral home.
