Ban wildlife killing contests in PA

Silve Pomicter

Chinchilla, Pa.

Pennsylvania has more wildlife killing contests than any other state, and it is past time that these cruel and inhumane contests are banned. Contestants slaughter animals for money and prizes. The animals often targeted in these contests include coyotes, foxes, bobcats, squirrels, raccoons, crows, rabbits and groundhogs. Some participants bring their hunting dogs, and they shoot the animals in the legs so they can’t get away, allowing the dogs to tear the animals apart while still alive.

Recently, Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation to ban wildlife killing contests in New York State. Other states that have banned wildlife killing contests are Massachusetts, Maryland, Oregon, Washington, California, Vermont, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado.

It’s time for Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania’s Governor, to step up and ban these barbaric and inhumane wildlife killing contests too. Please contact Governor Shapiro and your state legislators and urge them to ban these barbaric killing contests.

Starting at $3.69/week.
