Guess I was wrong?

I submitted a Letter to the Editor talking about how people running small town class reunions need to reach out to those that do not attend and “ask them why.”
I was told by a Facebook friend who is still there that they have already done this and that 73 people were attending.
Sad fact is this very person never told me he was one of the people responsible for the reunion. It is being held at this person’s church, where he is on the board.
There will be no music and no alcohol is being served or allowed.
I would not have wasted my time writing a letter if I had been told that they already discussed the issues.
I get the feeling that those that stayed in the local area do not want those of us that left to attend, or just don’t care to reach out and make an effort to have us attend.
Sadly, there are many classmates who do not live there but would possibly have liked to attend.
Some classmates may be very ill or have money problems or cannot drive, but would have liked to attend.
A class reunion is for the “whole class” not just the few that never left. Have those get-togethers monthly and talk about the rest of us.
Please, one time in five years is not too much to ask to have everyone in the class to meet and see old classmates, is it?
