Thank you

Lock Haven
Thanks to all who donated to the local Alzheimer’s Association’s Longest Day celebration at our local fundraiser on June 23. We were able to raise over $800 in 2 hours with our Twisted Racquet Tears Sing Along.
The funds raised help support the Alzheimer’s Association and locally, the Covenant Cafe early stage activity group. A special thanks to Covenant United Methodist Church who provided the space and the Twisted Racquet Tears who played free of charge.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, one in three seniors die with Alzheimer’s or other dementia; more than six million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and over eleven million Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. With the increased elderly population, Alzheimer’s Disease is now at a crisis level.
The funds raised on or near the Summer Solstice to fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s are used to provide care and support to individuals facing Alzheimer’s through their free 24/7 Helpline (8 00-272-3900), education programs and support groups; accelerating research and creating a path for global progress and advancing critical legislation that supports people living with dementia and their caregivers, while recruiting a nationwide network of advocates.
Locally, the Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group meets the second Tuesday of each month from 7-8 p.m. and the Covenant Cafe meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 1-3 p.m. both at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
Fran Decker, MSW, is support group facilitator and Covenant Cafe Coordinator.
