Protect WPSU and public media

The U.S. Senate is now considering a rescission package that would eliminate all federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. If passed, this would have a devastating impact on WPSU and rural communities, including those in Clinton County.
This funding makes up 17% ($1.4 million) of WPSU’s budget. Losing it would force deep cuts to educational outreach, beloved programming, and local journalism. It would mean fewer trusted voices on the air, fewer resources in our classrooms, and the loss of services that many families rely on every day.
WPSU is a lifeline, especially in communities like ours where access to indispensable programs and services can be limited. From “Sesame Street” to “Our Town,” from virtual field trips to emergency alerts, WPSU connects, informs, and protects our communities. If this funding is eliminated, the damage will be immediate and irreversible.
I urge our U.S. Senators to reject these cuts and protect public media. And I encourage my fellow community members to act now. Call Senator John Fetterman at (202) 224-4254 or (717) 782-3951 and Senator Dave McCormick at (202) 224-6324 or (717) 231-7540.
WPSU has stood with us for over 60 years. Now it’s our turn to stand with them — before it’s too late.
