Jim Newton Itasca Former Vice President Mike Pence just won the JFK Profiles in Courage Award for upholding the Constitution on January 6, 2021. Pence’s willingness to certify the 2020 election results saved an already confused America additional grief. While some observers insist that Pence was just doing his job, I don’t begrudge him the award. Penn State should reconsider plans to shutter campuses

Todd Wolfson New Brunswick, NJ The news that Penn State University President Neeli Bendapudi has asked university trustees to approve closing seven of its campuses despite the fact that university finances are strong is dismaying. So is the fact that administrators arrived at this proposal without faculty involvement in decision making. I had Leslie as a student and there was not a harder working and more conscientious student than Leslie. I know many other teachers who felt the same way. Pat Edwards, our former treasurer, took Mick under her wing, when fresh out of high school, and taught her everything she knew. Mick is doing, and will continue to do, a great job since she was taught by one of the best. When Pat Edwards retired, she highly recommended Mick to take her place as treasurer. Megan Houser’s blatant deception cost her Republican ballot spot

Salisbury’s April 2025 ruling disqualifying candidate Megan Houser from the Republican ballot for the Keystone Central School Board race was a justified response to her blatant misrepresentation. A registered Democrat since 2015, Houser violated Pennsylvania election laws by falsely claiming Republican affiliation to collect nomination signatures.
