Five members of the Lock Haven women’s cross country and track and field teams have been named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division II Academic All-District Team.
Julia Beck, Elaina Klinger, Kiersten Lloyd, Central Mountain graduate Mallory Eck and Natalie Gentzel represent The Haven women on the prestigious academic award list.
The award, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the field of competition and in the classroom. To be eligible, one must have a 3.50 cumulative grade point average or higher.
Most recently, the five standouts helped Lock Haven finish the year strong at the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships (May 11-13), held at Slippery Rock.
The Haven women finished seventh at the 2023 PSAC Cross Country Championships, powered by a second-place finish from Klinger. The Bald Eagles also placed seventh at the 2023 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships.
Klinger ran the 6K course in 22:07.8 and she finished second of 171 finishers in the championship race, marking one of the top individual efforts in program history. She followed that up with a third-place finish at the 2023 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships to earn a trip to the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Joplin, Missouri.
At the 2023-24 PSAC Indoor Championships, the Bald Eagles placed eighth in the team standings.
