Bellefonte and Bald Eagle Area had numerous athletes earn Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference honors throughout all spring sports this year as the LHAC all-star teams were released this week.

In girls track and field, Bellefonte’s Addison Frey was a first-team all-star for the 800 and teammate Madison Miller earned first-team honors in the javelin. Bellefonte’s Althea Helms was a second-team all-star in the 200 and Victoria Schellenberg earned second-team honors in the pole vault.

Bellefonte’s 1,600 relay team of Madyson Miller, Addison Fry, Jayla Nau and Helms earned second-team all-star nods.

Bellefonte’s 3,200 relay team was also a second-team selection with Annie Cernuska, Helms, Natalie Jolley and Fry.

Bellefonte’s Zane Hummel was a two-time first-team all-star selection on the boys side. The Red Raider, who medaled at the state meet in the long jump, was a first-team all-star in the long and triple jumps. Bald Eagle Area’s Kaiden Gates was a first-team all-star in the high jump.

Earning second-team honors was Bald Eagle Area’s Beau Taylor in the 300 hurdles.

Bellefonte’s Peyton Vancas was a first-team all-conference pitcher for the LHAC East. He was the only Red Raider to earn first-team honors. Bellefonte’s Parker Capparelli was a second-team outfielder. Earning honorable mention nods was Bald Eagle Area’s Brayden Dubbs.

Bald Eagle Area’s softball team finished as state runners-up in Class AAA last week, so it’s no surprise to see the Eagles had four all-star selections.

On the first team, Sierra Albright of BEA was a pitcher after she recorded her 1,000th career strikeout this state tournament. Bald Eagle Area outfielders Alexa Baney and Sydney Thompson were both first-team outfielders. Bellefonte’s Jaylee Lose (catcher) and Taylor Brown (infielder) garnered first-team honors.

On the second team, Bellefonte’s Abby Herr was a pitcher selection and Sadie Ripka earned outfielder honors while Ragan Manning was a second-team infielder. Bald Eagle Area’s Kailey Eckert was a honorable mention all-star selection.
