Local roundup: Shore girls lose to Sullivan County 2-1

Sullivan County’s Lily McCarty and Quinn Pennella both scored goals to give the Griffins a 2-1 win against Jersey Shore. Alana Olson had an assist.

In goal, Sullivan’s Mariah Hallabuck recorded 21 saves as the Bulldogs routinely peppered the goal.

The game was won on a penalty kick with two seconds to play.

“The girls showed serious grit and determination to win the game,” Sullivan coach Jody McCarty said. “Charley Insinger and Bailey Bogart had great defensive games and Lily McCarty, Quinn Pennella and Juliana Price had strong offensive plays.”

• Lock Haven’s men’s soccer team’s defense stood tall against the defending Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion Bloomsburg and Lock Haven ended the 90 minutes in a scoreless draw.

With the tie, the Bald Eagles move to 1-0-1 on the young season and have yet to surrender a goal. Bloomsburg moves to 0-0-1.

The Bald Eagles held the Huskies to just six total shots in the game.

• The Lock Haven volleyball team finished the first weekend of the 2025 season at the Hall of Fame City Challenge on the campus of Walsh University on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 6). The Bald Eagles fell to Lake Erie 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 23-25, 23-25).

The Bald Eagles (0-3 overall) had a strong start to the match, winning the first set 25-17. Lock Haven then narrowly lost its next three sets with scores of (24-26, 23-25, 23-25).

Reagon Irons led the Lock Haven offense with nine kills and six aces.
