Bellefonte’s Herring takes 2nd at Super 32
At the 2025 Super 32 wrestling tournament, which features tons of outstanding competition and ranked wrestlers from throughout the United States, Bellefonte’s Sam Herring was lucky enough to be one of the competitors.
The Red Raider wrestled at 138 pounds and walked away with a silver medal.
In the 138 championship finals, Herring wrestled Orlando, Florida’s Tyler Dekraker and had a narrow, close 1-0 loss to take home silver.
Herring advanced to the championships with a 4-2 decision in the semifinals at 138 against Shoreham, New York’s Gavin Mangano, 4-2. In the championship quarterfinals, the Red Raider picked up a narrow 4-0 decision against Scottsboro, Alabama’s John Stewart.
Herring advanced past the Round of 16 by earning another tech fall, this time against Vanderbilt’s Kai Vielma, 19-2, 2:34. In the Round of 32, it was a fall by Herring in 1:51 against Lancaster’s Caden Yanarella to continue his run.
In the Round of 256, Herring earned a tech fall win against Vevay, Indiana’s Peyton Richards, 19-4, 1:59. In the Round of 128, Herring secured another tech fall win. The Red Raider beat Omaha, Nebraska’s Myles Sanchez, 17-2, 1:39. Herring continued with a 21-3, 3:12 tech fall in the Round of 64 by defeating Chapel Hill, North Carolina’s Gabe Rogers, 21-3, 3:12.
