Central Mountain football falls to Troy 70-29 in Week 9

TROY — Central Mountain traveled to Troy to face the defending Class AA state champions in Week 9 and knew it would be an extremely tough matchup.

Troy showed why they’re undefeated by scoring 70 points in a 70-29 rout over the Wildcats on Friday in Troy. While the Wildcats are still searching for a win, the 29 points is the most the team has scored in a single game this year.

The Wildcats hung with the defending state champions early. Troy led 14-0 after two Mason Smith touchdown runs in the first quarter of 1 and 26 yards. Dalton McDermott had a 9-yard touchdown run for Central Mountain with 11:11 to play in the second quarter which cut the deficit to 14-7.

Troy responded with a Smith 42-yard touchdown pass from Reed Palmer before Central Mountain again scored, this time on a Kyle Everett 59-yard touchdown pass to Mason Masorti.
