Lock Haven football looks to build off win in tough home test vs. No. 4 Kutztown

TIM WEIGHT/For the Express Lock Haven linebacker Kuhron Walker celebrates during a football game against Glenville State on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, at Hubert Jack Stadium. LHU hosts Kutztown on Saturday.
From staff reports Lock Haven improved to 2-3 with a 28-17 win against Bloomsburg on the road last weekend, snapping a three-game losing skid. But the Bald Eagles have a tough task on Saturday when they host No. 4 Kutztown for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Hubert Jack Stadium. The Bald Eagles have lost 15 straight games to Kutztown, last posting a win in 2002 (21-14). Lock Haven lost last year, 24-0, and had a narrow 7-3 loss in 2023. Kutztown has been on a roll and is 5-0. The Golden Bears also have been ranked ever since the preseason. Kutztown has scored at least 34 points in all five games, has posted two shutouts, and has scored 46 or more in each of its final three games. The Golden bears defeated Gannon (46-7), Shepherd (49-10) and Shippensburg (49-0) in routs the last three weeks. Steven Burkhardt leads the ground game with 419 rushing yards and three touchdowns and Jaedyn Stewart has 297 rushing yards with five touchdowns. The duo also average 7.6 and 10.6 yards per carry, respectively. Passing wise, Judd Novak has been superb. The quarterback has thrown for 904 yards with 11 touchdowns and no interceptions. Novak also has a 61.22% completion percentage. Overall, Lock Haven’s defense will have to attempt to limit Novak’s passing to hope to upset the Golden Bears, and also contain Burkhardt and Stewart on the ground. Offensively, the Bald Eagles have struggled at times. Damir Green and Ezequiel Johnson both lead the rushing attack with just 167 yards each through five games and Cureem Hathcock has 147 rushing yards in five games. While all three average at least 3.8 yards per carry, they average less than 50 yards per game. Jackson Ostrowsky has 772 passing yards to lead the aerial attack this year and has a 60.19% completion percentage.
