LHU men’s wrestling powers past LIU in opening dual of season
BETHLEHEM – The Lock Haven men’s wrestling team competed in a pair of duals at the Journeymen Wrangle Mania on Saturday and opened the day with a lopsided 48-6 victory over Long Island University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The Bald Eagles fell in their second match to Big 10 affiliate Indiana, 25-8.
In Lock Haven’s season-opening dual against LIU, the Bald Eagles swept every match but one on their way to a massive victory in non-conference action.
No. 29 Wyatt Henson (141), Lucas Kapusta (149) and Kade Sottolano (285) headlined the day by going 2-0 in their respective matches. Henson won by a 20-3 (4:55) tech fall in his opening match vs. LIU, before picking up an 11-2 major decision against Indiana.
Kapusta continues his strong start to the season after notching a fall (1:15) over LIU’s Tommy Bonasera and a 4-2 decision in the nightcap vs. Indiana.
Sottolano followed suit with a fall (0:47) over LIU’s Max Ohamuo and a 4-2 decision against Indiana.
