LHU women’s basketball falls to Fairmont State 77-70

ATHENS, W.Va. – Three Lock Haven women’s basketball players recorded double-doubles and the Bald Eagles led by one at the half, but No. 16 Fairmont State scored a game-high 28 points in the final period to escape with a 77-70 non-conference victory on Day 1 of the PSAC vs. Mountain East Challenge on Friday.

Madeline Evans, Rhyln Rouse and Alana Robinson all finished with double-doubles, headlined by a monster performance from Evans, who finished with a game-high 26 points (14-16 FTs) and 17 rebounds.

Rouse finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Robinson racked up 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks.

Jenadia Jordan added a game-high four steals. The Bald Eagles cleaned up on the glass and outrebounded Fairmont State 62-36, including 29-13 on the offensive end.

Both teams knocked down 22 shots from the floor, however, the Fighting Falcons led 7-3 in 3-pointers and 26-23 in free throws. Lock Haven also committed a game-high 23 turnovers.

Lock Haven jumped out to an 18-12 advantage after the opening period, before clinging to a 32-31 at the break.

However, Fairmont State outscored the Bald Eagles 46-38 in the second half to steal the victory. The Fighting Falcons knocked down 14-20 shots at the line during the run.
