Laws’ pin lifts LHU women’s wrestling past No. 18 Gannon
ERIE — Lindsay Laws earned a late pin to lift the Lock Haven women’s wrestling team to a 26-23 victory at No. 18 Gannon on Saturday. The Bald Eagles have now won five straight duals to improve to 13-5 on the season. Lock Haven finished the month of January unblemished and ended the season undefeated in road duals.
Lock Haven won four bouts, all coming by way of pinfall and received a forfeit at 103 pounds that was nullified by a Bald Eagle forfeit at 110.
Gannon jumped out to an early 6-0 lead via forfeit at 117 before Jayleah Pletz (124) and Isabella DeVito (131) earned back-to-back pins to get the scoring started for the Haven.
After Lock Haven dropped bouts at 138 and 145. Presley McCandlish (160) recaptured the lead for the Bald Eagles with a pin. Gannon’s No. 8 Bella Phillips quickly put the Golden Knights back ahead 23-20 going into the final bout.
Laws (207) delivered when it mattered most with a hard-fought 4:58 pin to give the Bald Eagles a 26-23 victory.
