On the girls side, defending District 6 champion Macia Owens dominated hurdles to lead the way for the Wildcats, taking first in both the 100 and 300.

In the 100, she overcame a photo finish against Selinsgrove’s Mikayla Martin, defeating the seal by .01 seconds. And in the 300, she was first in a Central Mountain sweep of top four, as Sarah Hall, Vivian Wilt and freshman Lane Walker finished right behind her.

Freshman Zaylie Warren posted a first place showing in the high jump with a 4-6 while also taking third in the triple (29-3) and fourth in the 200 (29.22). Fellow freshman Sophia Clement took third in both the high (4-2) and long jump (14-3), and senior Sophia Hoy placed second in the long (15-2 1/2) and fifth in the 200 (29.69).

Senior Grace Keohane rounded out the team’s top placements, claiming first in the 400 with a 1:05.17. Fellow senior Sarah Hall made it two second place showings with a 13.46 in the 100, and Harper Conklin finished fourth in the 100 (13.82) and second in the pole vault (7-0).

In distance, Cora Svec continued the theme of Central Mountain freshmen prospering, finishing third in both the 800 (2:42.38) and 1,600 (6:05.18). Junior Emma Wolfe placed second in the 3,200 with a 14:31.82.

In relays, Central Mountain defeated Selinsgrove by just under four seconds in the 1,600. It also notably tied the Seals in the 400 with a 53.03.

On the boys side, much of Central Mountain’s success came in the field.

Senior Josiah Allert was the lone Central Mountain boy to take home an individual first place finish, tying Selinsgrove’s Kadin Horst in the high jump with a mark of 5-4.

Junior Brayden Stahl edged out Selinsgrove’s Tyrese Bey for second in the long jump (18-3) while also taking second in the triple (36-10). And Allert added third place finishes in the triple (35-6 3/4) and shot put (36-8).

Ethan Shetler took second in the javelin with a throw of 143-7, headlining a throws group that also saw Logan Hanna earn two top five finishes in the discus and shot put.

On the track, the closest the Wildcats got to first on the boys side was a second place showing from Wyatt Heeman in the 200 (23.83).

Ricky Rohrbach – a senior – placed third in the 100 with an 11.82, and Caden Peterson – a senior – finished just over a second after Heeman to place fourth in the 100. And in distance, Xian Deems (800) and Will Stout (3,200) each placed third with respective times of 2:22.15 and 13:03.06.

Central Mountain returns to action next Tuesday, as it travels to Shamokin for another dual meet.
