LH Weis store seeks liquor license

LOCK HAVEN — The local Weis market may soon have a beer and wine cafe like the one in the Mill Hall grocery store.

Weis Markets has applied for a restaurant license for the Lock Haven store at 313 W. Bald Eagle St., and a copy of the application is posted in the grocery store’s window. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board lists the license as “pending.”

Lock Haven City Council has a say in it, and council is expected to vote on the idea at its meeting Monday evening, at 7 p.m.

The Lock Haven store manager confirmed that a license has been applied for, but he said he does not know yet where such a section would be located inside the market.

Weis Markets currently operates 56 in-store cafes in Pennsylvania where beer and wine are sold, reported Dennis Curtin, director of public relations for the corporation.

The beer and wine section in the Mill Hall store opened this past summer. The store is in Millbrook Plaza, Hogan Boulevard, and the new section is to the right of the entrance.

The Bellefonte Weis store also has such a section, as do Weis stores in State College, Williamsport, Montoursville and Muncy, Curtin said.

Starting at $3.69/week.
