Village Green Concerts each Friday continue

LEMONT — This week’s concert on the Lemont Village Green on Friday, Aug. 14, features Mary Madigan on guitar and vocals; Ian Marshall on guitar and Joe Pillot, also playing guitar, with a variety of covers and originals. The free concerts are held each Friday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m. during the month of August and during the month of September, when it starts to get dark earlier, the concerts are held from 7-8:30 p.m. Picnics are welcome on the Village Green and you can bring chairs or blankets for your added comfort. Loganton man charged with retail theft MILL HALL — A 44-year-old Loganton man was cited for retail theft following an incident at Walmart along Hogan Boulevard, Bald Eagle Township, in July, state police at Lamar said. According to police, Erik Quicksell is accused of not paying full retail value for a hot and ready-to-eat egg roll, valued at $2; Marketside sweet and sour sauce, valued at $0.84; and a Better Home and Gardens spotlight color lock, valued at $58, from the store between July 4 and July 10. WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. inflation declined slightly last month as the cost of gas and groceries slipped, though prices are still rising more quickly than before the Iran war, posing challenges for the White House as the midterm elections near. Consumer prices increased 3.4% in July from a year ago, down slightly from 3.5% in June, the Labor Department said Wednesday. Inflation had fallen to 2.4% before the Iran war.
