We implore our public and private educators at all levels to take extra special precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as numbers in our state rise at a rather significant pace. We understand the precautionary approach the Keystone Central School District is taking, for example, by going to virtual learning and then extending that through the Thanksgiving Day Holiday break. It’s anyone’s guess when students will — or should — return, what with rising cases among young people. But what none of us should be guessing about is how to be safe to prevent the virus ...

We join the many residents of Jersey Shore in congratulating Abbey Welker as the borough’s new mayor. And based on Abbey’s resume and body of work, she’s the right person for the job. This young woman was born and raised in Jersey Shore and works with her family at their family-owned funeral home. She goes to a local church and is a member of various local civic and professional organizations, plus the Elks, Moose, VFW and American Legion posts. We want to offer praise and thanks to the public servants at our county and local election bureaus and precincts across this great state and nation.
