LEMONT — Central Mountain Middle School and Mill Hall Elementary Art teacher, Jenn Wilson has a large collection of works on display in July and August at Cafe Lemont Coffee House.
The artworks on exhibition include a collection of small drawings and paintings as well as the artist’s latest series, a 12-piece mixed media collection entitled The Realms.
Each Realm is named after a month of the year, inspired by mythology and folklore associated with the moon in relation to its connection to humanity and the spiritual world.
The art teacher, known as JE Crum when showing her art, worked on these large artworks first by creating a gelatin plate in the form of a circle, printing with acrylic paint and textural objects to make monoprints.
Over the following two summers, she worked on each piece in the solitude of the woods of Michaux Forest while camping at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Each piece evolved to tell its own narrative with the use of watercolor painting and drawing details in an array of materials including: gel pen, charcoal, pastel, colored pencil as well as collage in some pieces.
You may learn more about JE Crum’s works by visiting her website at www.zhibit.org/jecrum.
Wilson’s current artworks are on display throughout the next two months at the coffee shop located in the downstairs of The Lemont House, 921 Pike St., Lemont, PA.
The show is free, kid-friendly and open to the public.
Cafe Lemont is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
