ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Ice scream, you scream! We all scream for Ice Cream!
Here’s your chance to enjoy ice cream this Sunday at Curtin Village on July 28 at 2 p.m.
The ice cream will be free to all those who are taking a tour at Eagle Iron Works and Curtin Village on Sunday afternoon. The ice cream is free, thanks to the owners of these Bellefonte Bed and Breakfast establishments: Bellefonte B & B, The Queen, Riffles & Runs, Our Fair Lady, Craftsman on Curtin, Reynold’s Mansion and Simplicity.
The homemade ice cream is being provided by Mill Hall’s Ice Shack, so bring the family and friends and explore the history of Curtin Village located at 251 Curtin Road, Howard. Tours are provided by volunteers of the nonprofit Roland Curtin Foundation and include a site orientation, interior tours of both the mansion and furnace complex and a narrative about the family of Civil War Governor Andrew Gregg Curtin. Learn how iron was made in central Pennsylvania using locally available resources like iron ore, limestone, charcoal and water.
Donations are appreciated and are used to preserve and interpret this significant 19th century ironmaking site. For more info call Sue at 570-220-9290.

This year the meat choices for the subs are regular ($8); ham or turkey ($10); roast beef ($11); and a cheese steak or Canadian bacon will cost $12. Along with the meats, the traditional lettuce, onions, peppers and tomatoes will be offered with mayo, mustard and oil.
Pre-orders need to be placed before Sunday, July 28, so that supplies can be ordered and ready to fill the orders beginning on Wednesday, July 31.

CHEER CLUB
Senior Cheer Club met on July 11 for a picnic lunch at Bald Eagle State Park. Club President Larry Butler and his wife, Emma, were missing since they’d taken a trip to Sight and Sound, but Vice President Fay Confer handled the meeting’s agenda without any trouble.
After the Pledge to the flag and reciting the Lord’s Prayer, Judy Cain read the Bible devotions taken from Isaiah 25, verses 1-12.
Janie Confer read the minutes from the prior meeting and gave the roll call of attendance. There were 19 enjoying the picnic today and each paid their $2 monthly dues.
At the June meeting, Relda Williams’ name was drawn by Finley Glossner as the door prize winner. Finley was visiting Cheer Club with his grandparents, Bill and Brenda, since they babysit him during his summer vacation from school. Relda brought the door prize for the July meeting, which was won by Roger Young. Roger will now bring the door prize for the Aug. 1 meeting that will be held at the Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek. Anyone 55 years of age and older is invited to attend.
