Monday, Aug. 11

— Clinton County Herb Guild monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Karrie McKeague and Jackie Lucas will have a presentation on Tea Blending. Join us for a fun and relaxing time! Meetings are open to the public and held at Big Woods Bible Church, 241 S. Hanna St., Lock Haven. Please use the rear entrance.

— Dunnstown Fire Company offers a Cash Bingo every Monday night at the fire station on 119 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven. Bingo starts at 6 p.m. and all proceeds help to support the fire company’s needs.

Tuesday, Aug. 12

— Ag Progress Days is held at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center at Rock Springs, 9 miles southwest of State College on Route 45. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 12; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 13; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 14. Admission and parking are free.

— American Red Cross Blood Drive, 12:30-6 p.m., at Wingate Faith Church, 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte (behind the Sheetz store in Wingate).

— The Nittany Valley Writers Network will host an open reading night for all levels of writers at 6:30 p.m., in Schlow Library’s Community Room, 211 S. Allen St., State College. Attendees can bring a short writing sample to share, or come to listen and meet other writers. The event is free and open to the public.

— The Alzheimer’s and Caregivers’ Support Group will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Natalie Steppe, Assistant Director of Lycoming County Veterans’ Affairs will be the guest speaker. Natalie will talk about VA benefits for long term care including VA pension eligibility, aid and attendance, health care and home care. Sitter service can be provided to the person with memory loss at the church while caregivers are attending the meeting. Prior arrangements must be made for this service.

Thursday, Aug. 14

— Members of the BEN Class of 1961 are invited to a monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Haywood’s on the Green in Mill Hall. All classmates and guests are encouraged to attend.

— Flea market vendors at Pleasant Gap Fire Company carnival grounds, 7 a.m. start. Flea market is held every Thursday during August. Come early as vendors pack up after lunch if not busy!

Friday, Aug. 15

— American Red Cross Blood Drive, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Flemington First Church of Christ, Canal St., Mill Hall.

— Bingo at Mill Hall Fire Hall every Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

— Join the park naturalist at Hyner Run State Park at 3:30 p.m. to learn about some different “Birds of Hyner,” There will be a craft. Meet at the amphitheater by the pool.

— Join the park naturalist at Little Pine State Park at 7:30 p.m. for “Evening Birding” on Lake Shore Trail. Topics will include the different birds that live at the park and how to identify them. Please bring your own binoculars and other birding gear. Meet at the beginning of the Lake Shore Trail at the kiosk at the dam.
