‘The Cookie Crew’ arrives at UPMC Williamsport just in time for the holidays

WILLIAMSPORT — Tis the season for holiday traditions, and at The Birthplace at UPMC Williamsport, that means a special holiday celebration for newborns and their parents because every holiday needs a little sweetness.

The newborns are baking up baby-sized joy as UPMC’s hospitals celebrate the holidays. Families of newborns received hand-knitted gingerbread cookie hats, lovingly created and donated by UPMC staff and community volunteers, along with special UPMC Magee-Womens “cookie crew” onesies.

“Families and staff really look forward to our special celebration traditions for our newborns, especially during the holidays,” said Katelyn Fowler, unit director, The Birthplace, UPMC Williamsport. “Sharing these moments with families is a special part of our work, and there’s nothing crummy about it – pun intended. The experience really matters to us across our UPMC Magee-Womens teams, and celebrating on such a grand scale systemwide is a great way to show a united front of world-class maternity care delivered at each participating labor and delivery unit.”
