Covenant Cafe to learn about Flood of 1936 at March 17 meeting
LOCK HAVEN — The Covenant Cafe, an activity group for those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias, will be meeting on March 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
Kathy Arndt from the Clinton County Historical Society will give a talk on the 90th anniversary of the March 17, 1936, flood in Lock Haven. Participants are encouraged to share their remembrances of this monumental flood and the public is invited to hear this presentation starting at 1 p.m.
Volunteers Sharon Davy, Roberta Muthler and Anne Miller will lead a St. Patrick’s Day craft and Pam Blesh will play the piano for an Irish Sing Along in honor of the holiday. The group will celebrate birthdays from the first quarter of the year with a pizza party.
The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Nurturing, Outreach and Worship Committee of Covenant United Methodist, the Alzheimer’s Support Group and the Alzheimer’s Association. Participants in this group are given an opportunity to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs which will help them remain as active as possible.
